LaVerkin Chickens Out, Cancels Agenda Item

After arriving at 5:55 PM, I counted 31 concerned Toquerville residents and other concerned parties waiting to get inside and listen to the Planning and Zoning meeting regarding Interstate Rock’s application for critical infrastructure protection.

Shortly thereafter, I was notified that the La Verkin City Attorney had come outside and announced that the Planning and Zoning Committee had removed this item from their agenda.

I don’t really mind spending the time and the gas I used to attend a cancelled agenda item. What bothers me, is what might have happened had we all not attended.

They even had a police officer come outside and bar the door.

As it stands, La Verkin will have to notice this again in order to comply with open meeting laws. So we’ll get another crack at this.

Maybe they are hoping we will go away. Please don’t. Thank you to all of those who came out tonight and I hope to see you at the next scheduled planning and zoning meeting regarding Interstate Rock’s application.
