Upcoming Decisions That Will Impact Us All

By Gary Chaves

In addition to the Mayor’s meeting tonight, May 12th, at 5:30 pm, the Planning Commission will meet tomorrow, May 13th, at 6 pm. The agenda includes a Public Hearing on 10 items. One or more of these items will affect you. Please look them over.

Pre-Annexation Agreement

Your input is needed on a decision to annex county land for a development that would become part of our city. My concern is that the city would be responsible for providing water meters, maintenance, and billing for up to 1,500 residential units (single-family homes, townhomes, and multi-family units). This is items 6 & 7 on the Notice of Public Hearing.

exemptions on nightly rentals and density

Another item at the public hearing is on the developer’s inclusion of up to 200 Nightly Rental dwellings. The developer wants an exemption from both the current Residential and Nightly Rental Development ordinances. They are also asking for more than double the current allowable density ratio. This involves item 10 on the Notice of Public Hearing.

a chance to be heard

I will be there to express my concerns to the Planning Commission. Will you be able to make time for tonight’s State of the City address by the Mayor, and on Wednesday to share your opinion at the Planning Commission Public Hearing?

We have good neighbors serving on both the Planning Commission and City Council, but they need to hear how you feel about these important issues.
