For those of us who still see a massive pile of rocks and what appears to be a still-unstable hillside, we are both relieved and skeptical. There was more discussion on the problems with the north side of the bypass as well. A “sand pocket” has stalled construction there. Throughout the seasons a cliff of black-edged rock provides a dramatic backdrop for the unusually dense trees and vegetation—a stark contrast to our mostly barren roadside views. Sadly, the bypass road will blast through that beautiful scene perhaps this summer.
